Apartment building, District 5. (Szófia building)

The enormous, several-storey palace from the 19th century stands on the corner of Kossuth square. It is called Szófia building after the restaurant that operates inside it. The exterior, which has corner pavilions and arcades broken by a row of windows hides a grand interior. In the spacious foyer, colorful marble columns support the loggias of the upper floors. The hall has large glass-covered openings. The ornaments of the bright stairwell, the marble covers, wrought iron chandeliers and marble fireplace heighten the luxury of the interior.
