Geological Institute of Hungary

19 pictures

The renovated, several-storey-high Art Nouveau building of the Institute of Geology was constructed in the late 19th century following the designs of Ödön Lechner. The block decorated with Hungarian-style ornaments is topped by a blue roof covered with Zsolnay ceramic tiles. The characteristic ornaments appear on the exterior and interior of the building and even on its fence. The frescoes, sculptures and glass works are of the same high-quality, unified artistic style.
